Anglo Belgian Corporation manufactures medium-speed engines with various power outputs. These engines, in combination with an alternator, positions ABC to offer powerful power generation solutions. Our engineering department provides complete diesel-electric propulsion solutions and auxiliary gensets to power those ships with the highest technical requirements.

ABC gensets combine all technical advantages of our engines to obtain a reliable source of power for vessels, offshore platforms or any other maritime application. With the introduction of the 16DV36 engine, ABC confirms its position as a leading manufacturer in the medium-speed engine market. ABC, with more than a century of diesel engine building experience, developed this engine with the latest proven and reliable technologies. The 16DV36 has been built with continuous operation, low fuel and lube oil consumption and a maximum usability in mind.

This four-stroke, 16-cylinder V-engine, developing up to 10.4 MW, can run on MGO/MDO and HFO and ensures a safe investment for anyone who’s in need of a reliable yet very powerful source of energy. The 16DV36 will be commercially available from mid-2019.

Each cylinder has a bore x stroke of 365 mm x 420 mm and delivers more than 650 kW at 750 rpm. The low brake mean effective pressure (BMEP) of only 24 bar ensures a higher reliability and lifetime of the engine, maximizing the vessels’ uptime. Additionally, 100 % of the power is available on the power take-off (PTO) side.

The 16DV36 has been developed with proven though state-of-the-art technologies such as exhaust gas recirculation (EGR), variable valve timing (VVT), 2-stage turbocharging, Miller timing and a radically optimized common rail system.

The customer can choose between a common rail or full mechanical PLN (Pump-Line-Nozzle) fuel injection system. To comply with the most stringent emission standards, ABC also offers the possibility to opt for EGR or an aftertreatment system such as SCR or oxidation catalyst.

When choosing EGR, no additional storage space for urea or other liquids needs to be foreseen. The engine is more compact and requires no AdBlue® bunkering which offers the user very interesting operational advantages. The choice of an engine with EGR or a catalyst depends, among other things, on the ship’s sailing profile, the area where the ship is deployed, etc.

The engine has also been designed in such a way that it can be maintained and overhauled in a smooth and simple manner. Changing the cylinder heads has never been easier thanks to the innovative design of the cylinder packs. The engine can be equipped with an (optional) monitoring system, allowing the crew to perform predictive maintenance and thus maximizing the uptime of the vessel.
